Li Canyu delivered reports at DSLab on 28th,Oct

Li Canyu delivered a reports about Wireless Sensor Network for Environmental Monitoring

A abstract of the report is:

A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) consists of spatially distributed autonomous sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants. WSNs are an emerging technology which is promised to a dramatic growth in the years to come. This new paradigm of communication represents specific design constraints, they must be extremely low-cost (both to purchase and to operate). Despite their low-cost and power management features, they must implement reliable communication protocols.

Wang Lijuan delivered reports at DSLab on 12th,Oct

Wang Lijuan delivered a report about artifical neural network, a brief introduction of the report is:

Neural networks have seen an explosion of interest over the last few years, and are being successfully applied across an extraordinary range of problem domains, in areas as diverse as finance, medicine, engineering, geology and physics. Indeed, anywhere that there are problems of prediction, classification or control, neural networks are being introduced.Neural networks are also intuitively appealing, based as they are on a crude low-level model of biological neural systems. In the future, the development of this neurobiological modeling may lead to genuinely intelligent computers. And the neural networks with associative memory is the key point of the study of neural network. A new method was developed for designing asymmetric neural network with associative memory. It can design neural network with different symmetry degree, and it displayed three dynamics phase region.

Cheng Guanghui and Li Chanjuan delivered reports at DSLab on 17th,Sep

Cheng Guanghui delivered a report about”L4eRTL Porting PaRTiKle to L4/Fiasco”,a brief introduction of the report is:

PaRTiKle is a real-time operating system which is the replacement of RTLinux/GPL and PaRTiKle has been published as the part of XM/eRTL project which allows to run multiple PaRTiKle domain beyond the XtratuM hypervisor.L4/Fiasco is one of second generation microkernel L4 family but has full preemptible capability. Based on L4/Fiasco L4Linux is regarded to be a para-virtualization technology to prove that L4/Fiasco is good basestone to provide the general-purpose operating system virtulization. Similary L4eRTL is proposed and implemented as a real-time operating system virtualization and it allows multiple PaRTiKle(L4eRTL) domains to coexist with L4Linux now.

Li Chanjuan delivered a report about”A New Real-Time Network Protocol-Node Order Protocol”,a brief introduction of the report is:

It is natrual for real-time network protocols to start at the top level with the temporal behavior, so do many of the existing protocols. However,  time-triggered protocols not only adds extra complexity because related to maintainence of glabal time but also incure a penalty in network utilitisation due to temporal padding. To relieve thoes issues, we introduce a node ordering concept in which a strict node order is defined and the order of communication events is established by this pre-configured order instead of global time. Thus what is required is maintaining the node order only. Based on such a concept, we propose Node Ordering Protocol (NOP) in which  medium access is controled by strict node ordering. In NOP, there is no concept of global time and communication activities are event-triggered. So NOP eliminates theinterval reserved for keeping temporal order and can saturates the network in the general case.

Prof. Hermann Haertig from Technical University Dresden visiting DSLab,SISE

Prof. Hermann Haertig brings us a splendid lecture On March 6th, Prof. Hermann Haertig, the leader of the Institute of System Architecture for operating systems research group in Dresden University of Technology in Germany, gived us a splendid lecture named The Real-Time System and Trusted Computing based on L4/Fiasco in 406 in the Information Floor. The Information Science and Engineering Institute’s leader Chen Xiaoyun and Sun Zhaohui attended the lecture. The 2006th graduates in the department of Computer science and the members in the dslab listened to this lecture. In the three hours’ lecture, Haertig told us some basic knowledge about l4 and microkernel, and launched trusted computing on extensive discussions. In all the process, Haertig talked with the listeners and the atmosphere was very warm.
