L4eRTL 0.91 and L4eRTL 0.92 has been announced

L4eRTL 0.91 and L4eRTL 0.92 has been announced ,they provide Posix interface,an have a good realtimeperformance.

L4eRTL is real-time virtualization solution based L4/Fiasco microkernel and it could allow coexisting of hard real-time operating system and soft real-time operating system.

Li Canyu delivered reports at DSLab on 28th,Oct

Li Canyu delivered a reports about Wireless Sensor Network for Environmental Monitoring

A abstract of the report is:

A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) consists of spatially distributed autonomous sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants. WSNs are an emerging technology which is promised to a dramatic growth in the years to come. This new paradigm of communication represents specific design constraints, they must be extremely low-cost (both to purchase and to operate). Despite their low-cost and power management features, they must implement reliable communication protocols.

Wang Lijuan delivered reports at DSLab on 12th,Oct

Wang Lijuan delivered a report about artifical neural network, a brief introduction of the report is:

Neural networks have seen an explosion of interest over the last few years, and are being successfully applied across an extraordinary range of problem domains, in areas as diverse as finance, medicine, engineering, geology and physics. Indeed, anywhere that there are problems of prediction, classification or control, neural networks are being introduced.Neural networks are also intuitively appealing, based as they are on a crude low-level model of biological neural systems. In the future, the development of this neurobiological modeling may lead to genuinely intelligent computers. And the neural networks with associative memory is the key point of the study of neural network. A new method was developed for designing asymmetric neural network with associative memory. It can design neural network with different symmetry degree, and it displayed three dynamics phase region.

Prof. Nicholas McGuire Received Friendship Award in Beijing during China’s 60th Birthday Festival

Just before China’s 60th Birthday Festival on October 1st, 2009, the Chinese government on September 29th conferred the Friendship Award, the country’s highest award for foreign experts, to 100 foreigners for their contribution to its economic and social development.

Prof. Nicholas McGuire, the CUIYING Guest Professor of Lanzhou University, China, is one of the 100 awardees this year. Lanzhou University is located in Gansu Province, northwest of China, which is the underdeveloped area of China. Nicholas has been working there since 2004. He has donated a great number of devices and books there and helped to build up the Engineering Research Center of Open-Source Software and Real-Time Operating System, the Distributed and Embedded System Lab and the School of Information Science and Engineering. He has held Summer School about Open-Source Software, Real-Time and Embedded Systems annually since 2004, from which hundreds of students and teachers have benefited. Meanwhile, he also has tried his best to establish and expand communication between Lanzhou University and oversea universities, companies, institutes, etc. He is honoured the award by his great and selfless contribution to China.

Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang gave a medal and certificate to each of 100 experts from 28 different countries at a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on September 30th met with those awardees and their relatives. Premier Wen thanked them on behalf of the Chinese government and the people, for their great contribution to China’s modernization.

About 480,000 foreign experts came to work in China in 2008, compared with fewer than 10,000 at the end of the 1980s. And China has conferred Friendship Award to 1,099 foreign experts since it began in 1991.
